Late Night/Early Morning

Ok, I just got Ree Drummond's "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels" and have been unable to put it down. It is now 1:03 am and I just can't stay awake any longer. It is such a great book: funny, sweet and oh so romantic. It's been awhile since I enjoyed reading something this much.

Nighty Night.

2010 Jane Austen Tea, JASNA Idaho

Tammy, Anna, and I had a wonderful time at the Jane Austen Tea on Saturday (12/11/10). It was a special time this year because Tammy brought little Anna and I brought little Jayden, the next generation of Jane Austen fans. The keynote speaker, Dr. Cheryl Kinney, presented A Dangerous Indulgence: Women's Health in Jane Austen's Time with an emphasis on obstetrics. Yikes! I am so thankful that I was not having babies under those conditions. :)

Tammy & Anna enjoyed the delicious scones.

Jayden slept through most of the tea which was quite nice.

Anna looked gorgeous and was the only one who got to
stay during the whole presentation.

The girls had their first "bonding" moments out in the lobby
where they could make some noise.

Anna kept wanting to put her finger in Jayden's mouth.

Two peas in a pod.

Though exhausted, Anna was very happy and giggly as she
rolled around on the lobby floor.

Me and my girl.

Scary

I was thinking about the way images stay with us and the way nightmares don't discriminate between adults and children. These are the images that have starred in my adult nightmares.

Hmm... I wonder if this is a result of my fascination with darker themes and Utopian/Dystopian literature.

Guilty Pleasures

Ok, much as I hate to admit, I am a huge fan of vampire novels, movies, and TV shows. Every time something new comes out, I get a little thrill and can't wait to experience it. This is hard to reconcile with the side of me that loves classical literature and is tickled at the prospect of attending the yearly Jane Austen tea in Boise with my book club. Regardless of the contrast, I love both elements and have decided to stop being embarrassed by the "darker" side. That being said... I have to say that I am a huge fan of True Blood. I read the books first and while I liked them, I can't say that they gripped me. The series, however, has me hooked. If you enjoy the vampire/occult genre and don't mind a little gore and some gratuitous sex, I recommend this show. :)
